On Monday, October 17, 2022, the scientific discussion of the master’s study in the specialty of veterinary microbiology was held with the tagged (detection of the Epstein-Barr virus EBV in Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma from formalin-fixed paraffin tissue samples in Najaf al Ashraf Governorate), and the discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Shakir Hammad Muhammad/College of Science/University of Babylon (chairman), Prof. Dr. Nofal Hussein Khudair/Faculty of Science/University of Kufa (member), and Lecturer Dr. Saif Sattar Rashid / Faculty of Veterinary Medicine / University of Kufa (Member), and Assistant Professor Dr. Kifah Fadel Hassoun Shebaa/ Faculty of Veterinary Medicine/ University of Kufa (Member and Supervisor).
The study included investigating the role of EBV in lymphoma disease by determination of LMP-1 from formalin-fixed paraffin tissue samples in Najaf Governorate by PCR and IHC methods. The results of the current study revealed that there is a role for EBV in the pathogenesis of Hodgkin’s and non- Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and the results also showed a relationship between both Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and age.
