The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine held a notable workshop titled “Violence Against Women and its Negative Effects on Families,” presented by Dr. Zainab Mohammed Hirzuldeen in the postgraduate hall. The workshop highlighted the general concept of violence, focusing specifically on violence against women. It was emphasized that violence against women in all its forms—against wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters—creates an atmosphere of tension within the family, leading to various disorders in children such as fear, selfishness, jealousy, and emotional instability. The discomfort felt by women, particularly mothers, negatively affects their ability to care for and attend to their children. The family plays a crucial role in the educational function and shaping children’s behavior, both positively and negatively. The workshop concluded with a call to reject all forms of violence, especially violence against women, and to continuously raise awareness about fostering community and family development to prevent all forms of brutal behavior against women
