Vision

The department aims to enhance the students’ knowledge by keeping pace with developments in the field of microbiological sciences, thereby elevating the level of veterinary college students and preparing specialized human cadres capable of serving the community and solving problems faced in the field of microbiology through the department’s postgraduate program.

Mission

To fulfill one of the most important goals sought by the College of Veterinary Medicine, which is to academically and scientifically qualify students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in a manner that fully aligns with the requirements of the job market, specifically and directly. The fundamental tasks of the Department of Veterinary Microbiology are based on three pillars:
❖ Educational Process: Providing an excellent educational environment for students and arming them with knowledge to develop their intellectual level and enable them to deal with future changes in science and contribute to the advancement of progress.
❖ Scientific Research: Stimulating scientific research through the participation of faculty members and students in conducting scientific research in the veterinary field and through the department’s postgraduate program, spreading knowledge to contribute to the development of the local community.
❖ Community Service: Strengthening relationships with state departments that benefit from their specializations through presenting basic and applied research, as well as organizing seminars and scientific lectures, and training and qualifying cadres from various community sectors through the postgraduate program implemented in the Department of Microbiology in recent years.

The three fundamental tasks above aim to achieve the following detailed objectives:
● The department’s scientific staff works on creating a distinguished program that includes instilling necessary behaviors in its graduates to be community-oriented, capable of meeting the requirements of both the public and private sectors, contributing to the protection of society, and having the motivation to develop themselves and their capabilities.
● The department is committed to applying national and global comprehensive quality standards in its outputs through the college’s commitment to the same.
● Participation in seminars held by the college, university, and veterinary associations.
● Active contribution with other sciences in addressing problems facing society, especially the issues of transmissible diseases, which have become one of the most important goals for the community to find solutions for.
● Qualifying students in the use of scientific research methods and techniques.
● The department works on conveying the latest developments and changes witnessed by the world according to contemporary changes and their impact on our country and the Arab world.
● To be a distinguished center for providing diagnostic services and distinguished in conducting and publishing scientific research to serve the community.
● Developing students’ scientific skills in the field of diagnosis, cultivation, staining, and other laboratory practices that serve various microscopic studies.
● Revitalizing rigorous scientific research through the department’s postgraduate (Master’s) program.

Objectives

The Department of Microbiology is one of the departments that always works on preparing specialized cadres in microbiology and scientific research, as well as preparing functional and educational cadres for state departments. One of the main elements of the mission of the Department of Microbiology at the College of Veterinary Medicine is to fulfill the objectives upon which the college was founded. These are represented in academically and scientifically qualifying students in a manner that fully aligns with the requirements of the job market, specifically and directly. The fundamental tasks of the department are based on three main pillars: the educational process, scientific research, and community service.

Address by the Head of the Department

Peace be upon you, and God’s mercy and blessings.
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, “And say, ‘Do [as you will], for Allah will see your deeds, and [so, will] His Messenger and the believers. And you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you about what you used to do.’” Truly, God is the Greatest. “Knowledge” is our noble goal, by which nations advance and flourish. It is the honor that God Almighty has bestowed upon the children of Adam, making it a means for elevation and progress. Therefore, as we begin a new academic year, we must emphasize the continuation of our scientific contribution to achieve our aspirations and to ensure the scientific journey in the department continues within the plans and directives of the esteemed College of Veterinary Medicine Council, in alignment with the various needs of society and keeping pace with scientific and practical developments under the current exceptional circumstances. We are determined to strive for the distinction of our department and our esteemed college, especially after the achievements of the Department of Microbiology in its scientific journey in the past years. This is what we hope to enhance and develop during the current academic year, having laid out this plan and relying on God Almighty to implement it in a way that fulfills our ambitions.
