The Department of Physiology, Biochemistry, and Pharmacology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine discussed a master’s thesis titled “Pharmacological and Neuro-behavioural Interactions Between Xylazine and Piracetam in Rats,” presented by the student Shaker Mahmoud Shaker، The study aimed to investigate the pharmacological and neuro-behavioural effects of the interaction between two drugs؛Xylazine, commonly used as an anesthetic and sedative, and Piracetam, which has multiple uses on the nervous system.
The study demonstrated various effects, which were measured and presented with their wide-ranging variables. The evaluation was conducted through biochemical tests, complete blood count analysis, oxidative stress measurements, and brain histological examination in rats. The discussion committee consisted of:
1- Prof. Dr. Saadia Saleh Mahdi – Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Kufa – Chairwoman
2- Assist. Prof. Dr. Wissam Hussein Salman – Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Al-Qadisiyah – Member
3- Assist. Prof. Dr. Fouad Zaidan Hamza – Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Kufa – Member
4- Assist. Prof. Mohammed Taha Naqi – Faculty of Veterinary Medicine – Member and Supervisor
