Vision:

The staffs of the department of veterinary clinical sciences will provide distinguished educational programs emphasizing long-lasting learning and, manipulate innovative clinical, fundamental, and comparative research; and provide remarkably, comprehensive animal care and animal wellness services

 

Mission:

The mission of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences is the improvement of animal health and well-being. Our mission is achieved by providing extraordinary educational experiences, distribute good veterinary care, and use the innovative methods to diagnose, prevent and treat disease. In support of these activities, we manipulate comprehensive professional curricula, provide forefront veterinary medical care; involve in consultation services and exceed activities that benefit the public and veterinary profession, and perform considerable clinical, basic, and translational research for the enhancement of animal and human health.

The main functions of the department of veterinary clinical sciences are as the followings:

  • Educational process: providing an excellent learning environment for students and provide them with knowledge that will prepare them for successful careers in academia, specialty practice, industry, and government
  • Research activities: Promote and enhance the research activities in the department especially in the topics that relate to internal and preventive veterinary medicine, surgery and theriogenology.
  • Community service: The consolidation of relations with government departments benefiting from the scope of their functions through the provision of basic and applied research as well as holding seminars and lectures within and outside the department.

 

Objective:

  1. To improve outcomes by enhancing the educational experience of students and implement strategies to enhance knowledge and skills.
  2. To conduct more research by increasing resources, expanding capacity and encouraging collaboration with different other faculty departments and disciplines.
  3. To help strengthen the capacity of the veterinary medical sciences  to support education, research and clinical service  that requires a collaboration of different departments.
  4.  Enhancing animal and human health by providing good animal care and delivering continuing education programs to veterinarians, animal owners, and the public.

Welcome From the Chief of Department


The Department of Clinical Sciences is committed to clinical and academic excellence and focuses on the issues affecting animals including cattle, sheep, goat and horses in addition to small animals such as dog and cat. Faculty members have specialty training and represent the following disciplines: Clinical pathology, Anesthesiology, Primary Care, Radiology,  Animal Surgery,  Animal Internal Medicine, Equine Medicine , theriogenology and artificial insemination. Our faculty members teach veterinary students these disciplines throughout the curriculum. Veterinarians in the Department of Clinical Sciences hold appointments in the animal clinic where they provide clinical service to animal owners and referring veterinarians. Third, fourth and fifth year veterinary students spend much of their time in the in department of clinical sciences, working and learning how to diagnosis and treat the animals.

Research in the Department reflects the various disciplines represented, and concentrates on problems relevant to the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of problems affecting large and small animals.
